The New Life Learning Center Learning Center (A division of the Colquitt/Miller Arts Council) currently serves approximately 140 students from the Miller County School System in grades Pre-K through 7th Grade. We employ a staff of 50 teachers, college students, paraprofessionals, and high school students (who serve as tutors). Each day, we help them complete and check their homework, teach academic enrichment skills, teach all of the art areas, and also make sure they are safe in the After-School Hours. We have an all day, Monday-Friday Summer and School Holidays program with a focus of academic achievement through art.
The MCES and MCMS have an extended day program that runs 3 hours per week. The sole function of this program is Academic Skills.
Colquitt/Miller Arts Council (CMAC) received a 21st century community learning center grant through the No Child Left Behind legislation. This provides funding for our Explorer's Tutorial Program, after-school art classes, Children's Summer Art Workshops (C-SAW), family field trips, character education classes, and Swamp Gravy Kids. Colquitt's New Life Learning Center was created to be a public facility where local residents and visitors could receive training in the traditional crafts of Georgia such as quilting, pottery, sewing, and photography.

The hopes of the New Life Learning Center are to increase cultural art awareness and unity within our community. Grant and donation funding of the project support our goal of educating our rural community and preserving our past cultures.
Housed in newly renovated facilities, NLLC boasts a state-of-the-art pottery studio and classrooms for quilting, basketry and children?s art activities.
 | The New Life Learning Center offers scholarships to qualifying applicants to encourage cultural arts education. Students have the opportunity to learn while developing craftsmanship, self-esteem, social skills, and life skills. The center is a nurturing environment where talent and creativity can be developed.
Wild About Art and Wild About Art, Too are our after school art programs for elementary age children. Classes meet once per week on Tues. for Wild About Art, grades 3-5 and Thurs. for Wild About Art, Too, grades K-2. In these classes, kids are taught about art techniques, designs, artists, genres, etc. They may work with or create any of the following: clay, collages, paint, watercolor, ink print, windows, chairs, park benches, pottery, crafts, and the list could go on. We have parties at holidays and the end of the school year. In 2003, the New Life students participated in an art project through the National Endowment for the Arts with the residents of the Miller Co. Nursing Home, where artwork was created and placed permanently at the hospital and nursing home of Colquitt. The students also participated in the "Summer in the Swamp" mural which is now located on the east side of the New Life Learning Center. There is really no limit to the areas of art we touch on, but most importantly we have fun!!
